Iphofen

« Previous Main Next »
Families from all over the village of Iphofen bottle wine from their vineyards throughout the season. An afternoon at the local Vinothek educates visitors and allows anyone to try and buy the local wine. Have I mentioned that almost all of the wine in this area is white wine? About ninety percent. (this is what I get for making snarky comments about white wine early in the month; I take it back where Franconia is concerned, it was, every bit of it.. good).
Around the town itself there are fruit trees numbered and assigned to local gardeners who pay one Euro for the harvest of their particular tree. Is that a great idea or what?
If you decide you can't resist the Franconian wine country, call Claudia at the tourist office. She speaks English, German, and Italian and can give you priceless tips on visiting.
